FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a convenient, secure way to get your customer files to us without using e-mail and clogging your mailbox (or ours). File transfers are quick and simple. But you need a couple of things.
Once you set up an account with Spectrum Data, we supply you with a user name and password, which gives you access to a special online transfer area that we set up for you.
From your Web browser
To transfer files using your Web browser, simply open your browser and enter Spectrum’s FTP address: (ftp.spectrumdata.org). (Please note: You do not need to type “www.” in front of the FTP address in your Web browser).
Once open, you’ll see a dialog box prompting you for your supplied user name and password. After entering this information, you will have access to our FTP server.
Prefer an FTP client program?
If you prefer to use an FTP client program here are the instructions and a few FTP clients we recommend for Windows and Macintosh.
In your FTP client program, all you do is enter the address for Spectrum Data (ftp.spectrumdata.org), as well as your supplied user and password. In moments, you will be taken to a transfer area, where you can drop in your files. After that, we’ll take it from there — and your piece is practically in the mail.
